Reelbook
Privacy Policy
Last updated 18 October 2026
Reelbook is a demo project. It’s free, it may change or be taken offline, and it isn’t intended for sensitive or commercial content.
Reelbook lets you organise YouTube and Vimeo videos into private gallery pages and share them with a link. This policy explains what information Reelbook handles and why. The short version: we keep only what’s needed to run your account and your pages, we don’t sell it, and we don’t track the people who view your pages.
If you sign in (creators)
When you sign in with Google, Reelbook receives and stores:
- your name, email address and profile picture;
- a Google account identifier, so we can recognise you next time.
Reelbook is invite-only, so we also keep the email addresses of people who have been invited, to check them at sign-in. If you request access, we keep the name, email and note you send until your request is approved or dismissed.
We only request Google’s basic sign-in scopes (openid, email and profile). Reelbook cannot see your YouTube account, Gmail, Drive, contacts or any other Google data.
Reelbook also stores the content you create:
- page names and subtitles, chapter names and their order;
- the video links you add, and each video’s title and thumbnail as published on YouTube or Vimeo;
- any viewing passwords you set for your book or pages, stored encrypted.
We use a single sign-in cookie to keep you logged in. It isn’t used for advertising or analytics.
If you view a shared page
You don’t need an account and Reelbook doesn’t collect personal information about you. If a page is password protected, entering the password sets a cookie that lets this device back in for 30 days; it holds no personal information. To stop people guessing passwords, failed attempts are counted against a one-way hash of your IP address for 15 minutes. Thumbnails load from YouTube’s or Vimeo’s image servers. YouTube videos play through YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embed (youtube-nocookie.com), under Google’s Privacy Policy. Vimeo videos play in Vimeo’s player with its “do not track” setting on, under Vimeo’s Privacy Policy.
How we use information
- to sign you in and show you your own pages;
- to display your pages to anyone you share the link with;
- to prevent abuse, for example by limiting how quickly pages and videos can be created.
We don’t sell or rent personal information, we don’t show ads, and we don’t use your information to train AI models.
Google user data
Reelbook’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Who else processes data
Reelbook runs on a small number of service providers, who process data on our behalf:
- Vercel hosts the website;
- Neon hosts the database where accounts and pages are stored;
- Google provides sign-in, and YouTube and Vimeo provide the videos and thumbnails.
These providers may store data outside your country.
Share links
Each page has an unlisted link. Anyone who has the link can view the page, so only share it with people you trust. Pages are hidden from search engines. By default a shared page also shows your book name (for example “Seanbook”, which includes your first name, or a custom name you choose). You can switch this off for any page in its editor. If you share your book, its link shows the pages you’ve included in it; you can leave pages out or replace the book link at any time. You can regenerate a page’s link at any time, which immediately stops the old link from working.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your information is kept while your account is active. You can delete any page, category or video from your dashboard at any time, and it is removed from our database straight away. To remove everything, use Delete account at the bottom of your dashboard: your account, pages, categories and videos are permanently deleted immediately.
You can also remove Reelbook’s access to your Google account at any time from your Google account settings.
Your rights
Everything Reelbook stores about you can be seen, changed or deleted by you from your dashboard, without needing to ask anyone. Your name, email and picture come from your Google account, so changes you make there apply the next time you sign in.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
